For 25 years in NYC! White Bird Productions develops and commissions new works of theater that explore the urban social and physical landscape and environment. Through ensemble collaboration with the spectrum of performing and visual artists, White Bird’s keen interest in how the residents and the natural environment of New York complement and collide with one another has produced Villagers (John Istel) at St. Mark’s Church in the Bouwerie, COMBUSTION: The Politics of Trash at BAM (Kathryn Dickinson), and Islands: An Urban Archipelago (David Pleasant and Dickinson) at Blue Heron Arts Centre. In addition, born in the American South, Artistic Director Kathryn Dickinson explores race, religion, politics in the flying south series, which has produced Born of Conviction at Irondale Center and Cooking With Lard at HERE.
For 20 years in Brooklyn! Creative Theatrics empowers children with the confidence and skills to express themselves and perform in front of others. We accomplish this goal by encouraging students to explore their fantasy lives and to express that life through improvisation, storytelling, and dramatic text. Creative Theatrics Summer Theater Programs in Park Slope, Brooklyn combine professionalism with children/youth, making for its hallmark theatrical creations each week. Based on a belief that magic happens when the creative sparks of children are ignited, the Summer Theater Workshop in Prospect Park and Old First Church on 7th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn makes joyous and distinctive theater with children from Pre-K through Teens. Creative Theatrics/White Bird Productions’ office is also located within this building, just a couple of blocks from BAM.
