White Bird empowers children.

The teaching artists take what’s inherent in our children to make something beautiful. The creative process, the cooperation, collaboration, spirit of fun and shared goals and supporting each other…these are things we need to value in our world today.

White Bird Productions is committed to making original, dynamic theater with young artists. By empowering children to understand themselves as full participants in the creative process, our programs equip participants with essential life skills: collaboration, problem-solving, an understanding of the mechanics of storytelling, and emotional intelligence. Each semester or summer session culminates in the performance of a brand-new piece of theater – written, performed, and designed by young artists in collaboration with professional actors, musicians, and puppeteers.

Our team of veteran Teaching Artists is made up of world-class theater professionals, including actors, puppeteers, musicians, and writers who have worked on Broadway, at the Public Theater, at BAM, Playwrights Horizons, and in many TV and film projects. Our young birdies join these fierce artists in collaborating to create some seriously fun theater. Past themes and projects have included Women Pioneers in US History, Rock Opera: David Bowie, Moby Dick, Revolution!, Shakespeare, Musical Theater, Silent Film, Puppetry Extravaganzas, and more.
