Acting Workshop
Creative Theatrics teaches basic theater concepts, terms, and skills. Actors explore the use of their bodies and voices as they create characters and explore storytelling. Each week we focus on a different theatrical theme or genre. Past themes have included Shakespeare, Melodrama, Musical Theatre, and Greek Drama. Teaching artists work with small groups to develop a short theater piece based on these explorations to be performed on Fridays for family and friends.

Movement & Music
Sound, rhythm and music exploration through vocal and movement exercises keep our actors moving. Students create and choreograph their own dances, sounds, and music to be incorporated into each week’s Friday performance.

Arts Design Workshop
Students work with arts and theater specialists to design and make costumes, character props, puppets, and set pieces. These crafted elements make visual the young actors’ imagined world of the play.

3rd to 6th graders develop a performance each week, working to create an ensemble and to sharpen their individual acting skills.
