Creative Theatrics
Musical Theater Workshop
for 6th thru 10th Grades
One Three-Week Session
July 2 - July 20
This Creative Theatrics summer program offers youth
from 6th to 10th grade an opportunity to work with composers, playwrights,
and directors in the creation of an original musical theater work.
Students will spend their day developing the text, writing lyrics,
rehearsing, building props and sets. The ensemble will then premiere
their production in the Great Room performance space in the beautiful
Alliance of Resident Theaters of New York rehearsal/performance
and office building. White Bird Productions’ office is also
located within this building, just a couple of blocks from BAM.
Actors will work with professional teaching artists and performers
—giving them an opportunity to create a musical theater piece
from the ground up. (Singing is not required for this program—those
who are musically inclined will sing—those who are not, will
have non-singing roles.) Past productions include I’ll
Harbor You, Funky Junky Journey, Ish, Warming, Darwin: The Man Who Invented Monkeys, I Can't Believe It's Not Vaudeville (But It Is), The Jicama Factor.

Question 2: Do you think Beauty Sleeps, the Snow is White, or that Red Riding Hood is Little?
Question 3: Help us mix things up, make magic, turn sanity into chaos, and stake a claim on what happened "Once Upon a Time?"!
